Support the hardworking Soil Judging Team, Region V champions!

Give to the Max

Soil judging is a student experience unlike any other. It's not just about winning competitions. Teamwork, field experience, hands-on learning, and real job skills mean students consistently say it's one of the most valuable parts of their time at the University of Minnesota. The team needs your support today.

Regional Champions! The UMN Soil Judging Team is celebrating their recent first place win at the Region V contest in Crookston. The competition was against students from North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Missouri, Iowa, Kansas and Minnesota. The team placed first in the group judging event, and two students—Cole Montgomery and Ben Newcomb—received individual judging awards. Taken together, this led to an outcome of first place overall in the competition! Their win at Regionals qualifies the team to compete at nationals in 2022.

Support these hardworking students: Soil judging is completely funded through donations from our community, who values hands-on learning and collaboration. A generous soil science alum, Dave Johnson, class of 1959, has stepped forward with a $2,000 matching gift to send the team to the national contest. With this incredible matching gift, and your support, the soil judging team can carry on their legacy of excellence and represent the University of Minnesota at the highest level.

We’re asking you to dig deep and show your support with a gift today. Thank you so much!

But wait, there’s more! As an added bonus, every gift given on Give to the Max Day is eligible for thousands of dollars of prizes, regardless of the amount given. Post on social media with #UMNGive for the chance to unlock thousands more in special prizes given throughout the day.
