Formic acid plays an important role in the chemistry of the atmosphere, but not much is known about its global distribution. A study led by LAAS graduate student Xin Chen combines measurements from NASA’s Atmospheric Tomography Mission with a chemical transport model to characterize the global formic acid budget for the first time.
