Protecting potatoes and soil health

Fields of potatoes might be fumigated to protect them from fungi that cause early dying, but fumigation also has an impact on other soil microbes and nutrient availability. SWAC researcher Jim Crants led a study on two fumigants, and measured the effect on crop yield, and the impact on nitrogen cycling and the soil microbial community. Read the full article.
