Join us Wednesdays at 3:30 for our fall departmental seminar series. This week will feature a talk by Brent Williams, PhD, department head of the Department of Soil, Water and Climate, about the North Minneapolis Clean Air For All project.

Dr. Williams will present about the Clean Air for All project sponsored by the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency with North Minneapolis community organizations led by Liberty Community Church and in partnership with UMN's Urban Research and Outreach-Engagement Center (UROC), UMN Climate Adaptation Partnership (MCAP),  School of Nursing's Center of Planetary Health and Environmental Justice, and departments of Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering, and Soil, Water, and Climate.  Clean Air for All combines community-engaged continuous air quality measurements from an air sensor network, mobile laboratory measurements, and youth-scholar-led community education and mitigation activities focused on clean air.

 

Event Speaker

Brent Williams, PhD, is the department head of the Department of Soil, Water and Climate. His research focuses on the exploration of the composition, chemistry, and physical properties of Earth's atmosphere to determine the role of biogenic and anthropogenic gases and particles in Earth's climate system and their impact on human health.
