Always something new: Nutrient management software and the intersection of science, policy, and practice
SnapPlus, Wisconsin’s nutrient management planning software, has slowly evolved and expanded in focus over the two decades since it was first conceived as software integrating calculators for crop nutrient accounting, erosion, and runoff phosphorus loss risk assessment. This evolution continues, driven by shifts in public awareness of water quality problems, state policy, technology, agricultural practices, and nutrient management planner needs, along with soil fertility and agricultural non-point research.
