Yuxin Miao receives the Kingenta Agricultural Science Award

Congratulations to Prof. Yuxin Miao, who was selected to receive the Kingenta Agricultural Science Award by the American Society of Agronomy (ASA). According to the ASA website, "the Kingenta Agricultural Science Award recognizes those who have made significant contributions to Chinese agriculture with an emphasis on soil in research, teaching, extension, and policy making, which result in securing better and sustainable food supply, implementing environmentally friendly management practices, and improving farmers’ working conditions and profitability. The award consists of a certificate, a complimentary ticket to the award ceremony, and $2,000 provided through the Agronomic Science Foundation by Kingenta Inc."

Yuxin Miao is Associate Director of Precision Agriculture Center, and Associate Professor of Precision Agriculture in the Department of Soil, Water, and Climate. He earned his PhD in Soil Science from UMN in 2005 and did two years of postdoctoral research. From 2007 to 2017 he worked as an Associate Professor at China Agricultural University in Beijing. In 2017, he moved back to UMN. His research aims to develop integrated precision nutrient and crop management systems for food security and sustainable development. He has authored over 90 peer-reviewed publications with h-index of 44 and citations over 6400. He has been invited to present his research at different national and international conferences. He is the recipient of the Pierre C. Robert Precision Agriculture Young Scientist Award from ISPA in 2012. He was the funding leader of PNM community in ISPA. He is serving as Associate Editor for Agronomy Journal, Precision Agriculture, Remote Sensing and IJABE.

The award will be formally presented at the ASA Annual Meeting in Baltimore in November.
