Antarctic plants and soils

Although plant life is limited in Antarctica, the unique soils and ecosystems have the potential to emit greenhouse gasses as temperatures increase. SWAC faculty member Dr. Kurt Spokas collaborated on a recent project that combined laboratory and field studies to characterize the sources and sinks of greenhouse gasses by various Antarctic plant communities. Read the recent publication in Anais da Academia Brasileira de Ciências
