Historically redlined neighborhoods are warmer than others in the Twin Cities

It’s been a hot, dry summer in the Twin Cities, but not all neighborhoods are hit equally.

The heat island effect is worse in industrial and low-income neighborhoods, mirroring patterns of racial redlining. The current drought could make matters worse.
